Vibrating Shapes began 5 years ago as part of a Music/Science collaboration. We are developing a device that allows a musician to interact with holographic shapes projected into a given space for the purpose of musical creation. With guitarist Ivann Cruz from the Muzzix Collective and researchers Florent Berthaut from IRCICA and Arthur Paté from ISEN, we are working together at all stages of the process to improve the ergonomics of the device while respecting the musical heritage of instrumentalists to question the limits of practices and explore new ways of composing and considering musical improvisation. Vibrating Shapes was acclaimed at the 2023 NIME edition in Mexico City. The development of the project will be further enhanced with the collaboration of luthier Franck Claise.
